Japanese traditional ritual 節分(Setsubun) lecture & workshop at Nana’s Japanese Cafe 4th Feb/Sun 14:00-16:00 We Japanese believe this 節分(Setsubun) is one of the most important rites of the year. People of all ages, especially kids, enjoy sending demon away from home with beans. Hope you enjoy and get to know the characteristics of Japanese lifestyle through this fun event. 節分(division of two seasons): In the Far East, amidst the change in season, it is time when Yin and Yang meet each other. Since ancient times, this was revered as a ceremonial day to cleanse negative spirits from oneself. When the season goes from Yin and Yang; from winter to spring, we expel the "Oni" (demon) which represents things that are old and impure to cleanse ourselves so that we can enter the spring with a fresh pure mind.
